Bicycle and kayak in beautiful Haines Alaska!

Your tour begins in historic Fort Seward, Alaska's first military outpost.  Your experienced guide fits you to a bike and after an orientation and safety briefing you begin your ride to Chilkoot Lake.  You bike along the steep-walled fjord on a flat road to the mouth of the Chilkoot River.  Take in the fresh ocean air and be on the lookout for eagles, seals, sea lions, otters, and even whales.  The snow covered mountains form a picturesque backdrop.

Ride along the bank of the beautiful Chilkoot River through the state park.  Your journey takes you through a lush temperate rainforest with tall Sitka Spruce and Western Hemlock trees.  Stops are made along the way to take in the scenery and spot for wildlife with binoculars.  At the end of the bike segment is the scenic Lake, glacier-fed and surrounded by majestic peaks.  The lake is the spawning ground for the Sockeye Salmon.  Be on the lookout for the Alaskan Brown Bear, often sighted in this area!

At the lakeshore you exchange your bicycle for a stable sea kayak.  Your guide outfits you with gear and gives you a paddling orientation.  You dip your paddle and silently glide along the shore of the emerald lake.  At the conclusion of the kayaking segment you return by van to Haines.  This is the ultimate outdoor adventure and a great opportunity to explore our unique ecosystem, self propelled by bike and kayak.
